Hi all! Sorry for the lack of posts during the summer months.  It’s been vacation time and most of our team has been on well deserved holiday resting up for the challenges ahead. Although we have not been a full team during the summer the work with the site has been moving forward. And now the team is complete and we are set on full speed ahead!

During the summer most development has happened in the back end system of the new site. We now have a complete workflow for signing up, receiving confirmation email and activating a personal account. The system is prepared to manage different user roles depending on if you choose the free ”Open” or the paid ”Premium” membership.

Some things happened in the front as well. We can now edit the Watchlist widget (My list) by changing name (you can have several watchlists) and adding new companies very easily.

On Friday we had an internal Alpha release of the new nasdaomxnordic.com site. The back end part of the site is not ready yet, but our technicians have built the new interface so we could get a feeling for the new homepage and take a look at the widget functionality.

Below are some print screens. Click on the images to see larger versions.

1. Drag and drop of widgets. You can design your first page by the things you are most interested in. You can also fold widgets in and out.

2. You can customize the homepage and decide what widgets you want shown. Some widgets are only included in the Premium version of the site.

3. You can also customize the appearance of the home page (themes, layout and for example if you want to show change in % or currency)

We have already started planning for a phase two and three that will be launched during 2011. More information will come soon.

We will introduce a Premium membership to nasdaqomxnordic.com. The premium membership will be subscription based (for a small monthly fee) and it will include:
- Real time share quotes (including in all lists)
- My portfolio functionality
- Possibility to turn off external advertising
- Newsletters (with a summary of your portfolio performance and other information from NASDAQ OMX Nordic)
- Alert service by SMS and/or email.

What is your dream feature of nasdaqomxnordic.com?

The first phase of the new nasdaqomxnordic.com will be launched this October, phase two and three are already planned to be launched in 2011. Customization and flexibility are two keywords for the site. Some of the planned features for phase one are:

- You can break free of our structure. You will be able to build up your own content on the start page with widgets that you choose yourself.
- You can chose to register on the nasdaqomxnordic.com site and by doing so you will be able to choose, adapt and decide in what way you prefer the information delivered. For example, if you are only interested in the Danish market shown in Danish crowns, you will be able to make  those settings and keep them for next time you visit.
- The registration and log in functionality also means that the My list functionality will improve. You can now have the same My list on all your computers and handhelds. My list is today one of our most popular widgets, but we get a lot of complaints that the list disappears (That’s because it is cookie based and when you clear cookies on your computer the list will reset). By placing My list in your account it will be more stable and you will be able to share it between your computers.
- we will put effort in graphic- and interaction design as well as revamping the technical implementation in order to improve your user experience.

We have a long time seen a great need for redoing nasdaqomxnordic.com with placing our visitors in the center. The project has now been started.
